Aoi Matsuri (Aoi Festival)

One of the famous festival called Aoi Matsuri in Kyoto is coming on 15th of May.


People who wear the aristocratic clothes of the time of Heian period (about millennia ago) walk around the Kyoto city.These dressed in Costume start walking from the imperial palace, pass through Shimogamo shrine, and get to the Kamigamo shrine.


There are not only people who wear these noble clothes, but also there are cows, horses, and oxcart to brighten up this festival. Audiences are able to appreciate the life style and culture of Japanese old time.
