Kyoto Star Festival

The "Kyoto Star Festival" is a unique event that combines the traditional star festival with a modern summer festival. During this festival period (August 6th-15th) various other programs are also waiting for you.

At Horikawa Kaijo, one of the main locations, you can see countless "art works with bamboo and light" including bamboo trees with wishes written on strips of paper as well as a walkway called the "Milky Way of Light" that is illuminated by thousands of LED lights. On the Horikawa River, there will be floating lanterns creating a fantastic atmosphere around the riverside.

Aug 16

Gozan no Okuribi is one of the 4 large events(Aoi Matsuri, Gion Matsuri, and Jidai Matsuri) in Kyoto.

Starting at 8PM, the giant bonfires are lit on the five mountains, each with a distinctive shape.

People go to the Kamo River, between Sanjo and Imadegawa Street, for an excellent view of the initial fires.

Let's enjoy tasteful summer of Kyoto!
