the event at the temple,just in front of our hostel!!

March 10th at Higashihonganji, there will be the music,traditional dance, other events inside of the temple just in front of our hostel.

You can see Japanese drum(taiko)show and other famous musician's live for free.
This is the event for the memorial of the earthquick happened just one year ago.
We, Japanese people think we have responsible to remember the earthquick and about our brothers are still suffering for it. Please give us your sympathy and cheering to Japanese people!

Godairiki-san MOCHI LIFTING !!!

Godairiki-san is the largest event in Daigoji.
It is held on February 23rd every year.
So many visitors join the ceremony and get the paper charms which can later be spotted everywhere in Kyoto especially at entrances of old stores and houses.

In recent years, Mochi age riki hono (rice cake lifting) has been very famous!

Male participants try to lift a 150 kg piece of rice cake and female visitors try 90 kg to dedicate power and pray for their health and happiness!
